What it does

Convertback reports each paid order from the server, using Shopify's paid-order webhook instead of scripts on the Thank you page. Start from presets for Awin, CJ and ShareASale, a JSON webhook, or any pixel URL, with placeholders for order values and click ids. A theme app embed keeps affiliate click ids (with shopper consent) and adds them to the order. Logs show every request and its response code, failures can be retried, and a daily digest and an alert email tell you when delivery stops.

Questions

Why report orders from the server?

Scripts and pixels that ran on the Thank you and Order status pages depend on those pages loading and running the script. Convertback doesn't use those pages at all: it sends each postback from the server, from Shopify's paid-order webhook, so nothing depends on a script running on those pages.

Which networks does it work with?

Any that accepts a server-to-server URL or a webhook. There are starting points for Awin, CJ Affiliate and ShareASale, a generic JSON webhook (for Zapier, Make, n8n, Google Sheets or your own endpoint) and a custom GET pixel. Check each preset's parameter names against your network's current integration guide before going live.

How does the click id get onto the order?

Turn on the Convertback click capture app embed in your theme. When a shopper lands with a parameter you list, it is kept in their browser for your attribution window (1 to 90 days, 30 by default) and added to the cart as hidden attributes, so it arrives with the order. Without the embed, Convertback reads the order's landing page instead.

What about shoppers who decline cookies?

With the app embed on, click ids are stored only when Shopify's Customer Privacy API reports that the shopper allows marketing and the sale or sharing of their data. If they decline, nothing is stored, earlier click ids are cleared, and the order is reported without click ids, landing page, referrer or customer identifiers. A very old theme without that API can't report the shopper's choice, and neither can a store without the embed, so check your store's cookie banner setup.

Can I report only affiliate sales?

Yes. Set “Only fire when this captured parameter is present” (for example awc). The network presets set it for you.

What happens when my endpoint is down?

A timeout (8 seconds), network error or 5xx response is retried once automatically. A 4xx isn't, because the request itself is wrong. Every attempt is logged with its status code, and you can retry any failure from the Logs page. With an alert email set, you also get a daily digest and an email when paid orders arrive but nothing is delivered.

Do I need the Online Store channel?

Postbacks work on any store, because they run from the order webhook. Click id capture uses a theme app embed, so it needs the Online Store channel.

What does it cost?

$9/month or $90/year after a 14-day free trial, with all features. There is no free plan. Billed through Shopify; switch between monthly and annual on the app's Billing page.

What customer data does it keep?

Order id and number, totals, currency, coupon codes, SKUs, the captured click ids, landing page and referrer, the Shopify customer id, a SHA-256 hash of the order email, and the values it sent in your postbacks, all deleted 90 days after the order was paid. If the shopper declined consent, the click ids, landing page, referrer and customer identifiers are left out. The email address itself is never stored, and a postback sends the hash or customer id only if you add that placeholder to it. See the privacy policy for the full list.
